Selfie Time

Who is this guy who calls himself "one of the world's most half decent amateur photographers"?

Just another middle-aged guy with an expensive camera

I am Karsten Stanley Andersen. Like many other guys of my demographic, I enjoy walking around outside with a camera shooting pictures. Unlike many of my peers, however, I do know how to use the camera, for the most part. I also tell myself I have an eye for composition. I guess that's for others to judge.

Occupation

I work as a librarian at a public library where I help the patrons, juggle our IT systems, run our website, and much more.

My Equipment

My Sony A7r IV is my third "real" camera and obviously the best one. Since buying it in 2022, I have not once had an urge to replace it.

My most used lens is a 24-105 mm Sony lens. I also use a 16-32 mm, a 200-600 mm., and occassionally an 85 mm.

My Photography Inspirations

My photography inspirations are not necessarily for style, but just as much their personalities. Find them on YouTube.

My Life Inspirations

  • My dad
  • Bruce Springsteen
  • Nelson Mandela
  • Sitting Bull

Fun photo facts about me

  • I love to take pictures of birds when I get the chance, but I know next to nothing about birds. I can't tell a seagull from a hawk.
  • As a child, I didn't like it when my parents tried to take pictures of me. As a result, many childhood pictures of me show me running away from the camera.
  • Although northern lights are a fairly frequent occurrence where I live, I've never seen them, let alone taken pictures of them. I value my sleep too much.

Other Interests

Photography is far from my only interest. Other hobbies include:

  • American history
  • Bruce Springsteen
  • Tech stuff
  • Reading books
  • My cats
