Sandblasted by an Easter Storm: A Beach Trip Gone… Brisk

It seemed like a good idea. The weather forecast predicted very strong winds, so what could be a better way to spend Easter Sunday than go to the coast to watch the waves and feel the brisk air against our winter-pale skin – and shoot a few pictures in the proces?

While we didn’t regret our excursion, the reality was that this was a downright painful experience. Sand was blowing into our faces and felt like a thousand ant bites, and the wind chill turned a nice, sunny day into what felt like being in the middle of a polar vortex. It was impossible to go about the photography in a calculated way. You pushed your sunglasses up, looked into the viewfinder, clicked the release button, and then got your sunglasses back in place before your eyes were pierced by sand traveling through the air at high speed. Still, the images made it worth it. You may not be able to tell just how strong the wind was, but hopefully you get the idea that the beach is more than happy summer days and beautiful sunsets. The beach can be a rough place.
